Seesmic

November 19, 2009

Seesmic…not very easy to use, takes too much time and effort. I found there were no interesting topics to discuss, and very few other poeple using it. It was difficult to post a video and took a long time to upload it onto the page.  I don’t feel there is a need for seesmic. For me, I would use a blog to express my views. I would rather have a private conversation with someone rather than having it up there for everyone to see. all in all, as you can tell, I wasnt impressed.

minimalist

On WebDesignerWall I found a section under design trends where they’ve featured some amazing minimalist websites. For me, they catch my eye and are much more appealing than those with too much information, large background images, illustrations etc. I just think they look really classy.we are sofa

websites I don’t like

Picture 2

It’s just the website for the local cinema, and although it functions ok, it’s pretty ugly to look at. (And it could be improved by being able to book tickets online)

ryanair

Apalling, tacky, slow. Other budget airlines manage to design and promote themselves better then ryanair, why can’t they?

websites I like

BBC weather

I work outside in the summer, so I like to know whether to expect a thunderstorm or a heatwave?! useful information available 24/7, and continually updated. Lots of useful links dotted about the page.

vue cinemas

I like this one coz the key moves as you scroll down the page so it’s always in view. It really annoys me when you read an article, end up at the bottom of the page, and then have to scroll all the way up again to get onto another page.

i player

I like how the design and feel of the I-player website manages to be neutral and appeal to any age, because thats who their audience is. A lot of information on the home page, but still easy to manoever around it.

north york moors

I love the look of this, this would appeal to me as a young person even though I’m not the typical person who would go on a cultural/walking holiday on the moors. I love the style, with the colours that reflect the landscape and the use of photographs to make them seem quite ‘out there’.

poisson rouge

Poisson rouge must be incredibly easy to use, because my 3 year old niece doesnt need any help whatsoever to use it, or to play any of the games. And it’s presented in a brilliant way to appeal to children, with everything in pictures and no text, but it’s still clear how you manoever around the site. Love it.
